The President of the Barbados Council for the Disabled, Kerryann Ifill, has been targeted by scammers.

Ms. Ifill confirmed to CBC News that a fraudulent email claiming to have originated from her was sent to people associated with the Council.

Recipients of the message were told Ms. Ifill was seeking their support for a confidential matter.

It also instructed people to reply to the email rather than call her, as she was about to go into a meeting.

Ms. Ifill confirmed the matter has been reported to the Financial Crime Investigations Unit of the Barbados Police Service.
