British Airways canceled a flight from Barbados to Heathrow after one of its flight attendants reported she had been raped in a hotel.

Cabin crew were staying between flights at a £550-a-night hotel, said to be popular with honeymooners, when the alleged attack happened.

The BA crew are understood to have headed out for food and drinks before the woman was targeted.

Police have launched a criminal investigation into the attack and want to speak to an ex-pat, who lives on the Caribbean island, according to The Sun.

Airline bosses canceled the flight to Heathrow this earlier month after the flight attendant reported the crime to the police.

They also sent their own investigators and support team to Barbados to be with staff members.

A source told The Sun: “This has been an unimaginable time for the stewardess and her flight colleague.”

It has been reported five colleagues gave statements at a local police station.

“BA bosses did not hesitate to cancel the flight home, despite the cost and inconvenience to passengers,” another source said.

BA told Travel Gossip: “This is a police matter and we’re supporting our colleagues at this time.”

Abuse victim

11063424073?profile=RESIZE_400xRotherham child sex abuse victim Sammy Woodhouse recalls moment she told her son that she became pregnant with him after being raped by ringleader of Asian grooming gang

A sexual abuse survivor who gave birth to her child after she was raped by the leader of a Rotherham grooming gang has spoken about the extremely difficult conversation she has had to have with her son.

Sammy Woodhouse (@sammywoodhouse), 37, became pregnant at the age of 15 after being raped by violent ringleader Arshid Hussain, who was 25 at the time.

She was one of 18 girls who called Hussain her boyfriend, unaware of the extent of abuse she had been through.

In 2016 he was jailed for 35 years for 23 offences against nine girls after Sammy took her story to the papers. Also put in prison were 18 other members of the gang, including two of his brothers.

Discussing the moment when her son was around 12 years old and she began to come to terms with the fact she was abused, she said she had no idea how to approach the subject with him.

She said as well as being subjected to horrendous abuse, including rape and assaults, she was even coerced with threats to kill her family at the hands of Hussain.

'I was pretty much his sex doll; he was an absolute monster. I just felt like a dead body on a slab in a morgue', Sammy said.

She added: 'I grew up in Rotherham, about two and a half miles from the town centre. I was your average, everyday little girl I suppose.'

Discussing her abuser, she said: 'What he did was actual very clever. He worked out the dynamics in my family, he knew my dad was more strict and my mum was more of a best friend. So what he did was started to turn me more against my dad rather than my mum.

'I was completely out of my depth. I didn’t recognise it was dangerous and wrong I thought I’m a teenager having a bit of fun, how bad can things get.'

Sammy escaped her abuser when he was sent to prison in 2001 for a violent offence, but was instrumental in exposing the gang after she approached The Times anonymously with her claims, leading to the Jay Inquiry.

#Liverpool #paedophile who assaulted young girls jailed.
Lewis Jones, 24, was arrested by #Merseyside Police after grooming and sexually abusing a girl, 12, he met through #Snapchat in 2020.

He was still under investigation two years later when he attacked the girl in the park.

11063183497?profile=RESIZE_584xHe was jailed for life with a minimum of 12 years at Manchester Crown Court.

Jones, formerly of Brocklebank Lane, Allerton, Liverpool, pleaded guilty at an earlier hearing to four counts of sexual activity with a child and assault by penetration relating to a girl aged 12 and 13, and making indecent images of children, between January and June 2020.

He also admitted two counts of assault by penetration in August.

Jones first sat on a bench, furtively taking photos on his phone of female #children playing in a park in Droylsden, Greater Manchester, last year.

He then approached, offering to help make a den, then grabbed the girl, covering her mouth with his hand and ran off.

A girl, 11, realised what happened and told the other children to run for help and shouted out for the police to be called, prompting a search to begin immediately.

The girl was being assaulted in woodland when Jones was disturbed by people calling her name as they looked for her.

Twenty-five minutes later, bruised, bloodied and injured from the attack, the girl wandered to a house screaming "Help me, I've been kidnapped".

After the attack, Jones fled along a canal towpath, but handed himself in the next day after police issued a #CCTV image of the suspect.

Before the attack, Jones had already been under investigation after he claimed to be a school pupil aged 14 who groomed a 12-year-old girl.

Jones was arrested on 15 June 2020 and police found 102 child abuse images on his phone involving #girls aged as young as nine.

A man who touched the private parts of the seven-year-old has been ordered to pay her $2 500 in compensation but has the opportunity to avoid further jail time.

Madam Justice Laurie-Ann Smith-Bovell imposed a combination sentence – a suspended sentence and a compensation order – on the offender on Friday, giving him until April 29 to pay up or he will go to prison for 201 days for the crime he committed 17 years ago.

As the molester was the neighbour of the victim, his name is being withheld by Barbados TODAY to protect her identity.

Justice Smith-Bovell, in handing down the sentence in the No. 4 Supreme Court, said while touching anyone sexually without their consent was “a violation”, committing the offence against a minor was even more appalling.

According to the facts disclosed during the trial, the child went to play with a friend who lived next door on August 25, 2006. She went into the room of her friend’s uncle and was sitting on the bed when he touched her vagina and buttocks.

“Sexual offences are serious offences and should be treated as such. The psychological damage done to the complainant is oftentimes quite damaging and has far-reaching consequences,” Justice Smith-Bovell said.

“Sexual touches should never be done without the consent of the person who is being touched. In this case, it is a seven-year-old; it’s worse.

“Anything that is done without the consent of that person is a violation of that person. In situations like this, when the virtual complainant cannot consent, that makes the violation more egregious.”

The maximum penalty for indecent assault is five years in prison.

While saying she agreed with the prosecution and defence that this was not the worst case of indecent assault, “it is clearly not the least serious . . . either”.

“Clearly, this situation does not merit the maximum. However, based on the objective seriousness of the offence, the court considers the starting point of two years and six months,” Justice Smith-Bovell said, pointing to the complainant’s age and the man touching her privates as the aggravating features of the offence.

Also aggravating, she said, was “the breach of trust and relationship between the virtual complainant and the now-convicted man as an elderly neighbour whose house the virtual complainant frequented to play with friends”.

The judge also noted that the complainant still suffered emotionally and psychologically and continued to be subjected to negative comments from the molester’s family.

The mitigating factors, she pointed out, were the fact that no overt violence was used and there was no evidence of premeditation.

Based on those factors, the starting sentence was increased by one year, bringing it to three years and six months. However, given that the mitigating factors outweighed the aggravating features, the sentence was then reduced by a year, taking it back to two years and six months.

Eighteen months were then deducted for the delay in the case being heard and another 164 days for the time the man had spent on remand. This left the first-time offender with 201 days left to serve. The sentence was, however, suspended for one year.

“I am very sorry I find myself in this position. I am sorry,” the convicted man said when he addressed the court on Friday.
